'67 Shovelhead Sissybar Progress

Tapered down some half inch by half inch solid square stock in the little giant power hammer. Stuck it in the Forge to get the shape going for the sissy bar.

Bon Voyage Marco!

Marco's plane was almost air born at the same time as the plane that took Jonathan, Wolf and Brian back to California. He's here to enjoy the open road on one of the loaner bikes from Wolf.
After a couple of days to relax and get into the correct time zone, he was off. Jonathan was able to ride with him for part of the way over Sonora Pass.

Welcome to California, now lets sit in some traffic...

Finally to Sonora, first beer in the states

Getting loaded up

Stuck in traffic in the mountains?! Lots of construction going on before the weather changes

Adios Marco!

Our entire trip we were fairly lucky with the weather. Cold, but dry, we had brought just enough of California with us to make our trip on the bikes perfect. Monday morning though, leaving Luxembourg, our luck had ran out. We left Ed's in the rain, and it didn't stop until we had almost reached Liege.

Traveling over the Ardennes was almost unbearable in the cold and wet. But we throttled on, and the rest of the trip was quite a bit warmer once we reached the Dutch border, but still just as wet.

Bastogne, last picture of the day before we split off from Gilles and Angelo

Dinner at the Opmeer clubhouse

Next day sun in Hoorn with Beer and Brian

Bikers

Our last meal in Europe with Beer and Els and family. Another great trip in a bag, already can't wait to get back. Hope to see you guys all soon!

Monday, October 10, 2016

We woke up to a more typical European fall morning for our first full day in Luxembourg. Rain throughout the night and early morning, but dry as we hopped on the bikes. No sign of the sun anywhere! Ed lead us around a maze of Luxenberg roads, winding in and out of deep River Canyon's, stopping here and there to check out the random castle. Nothing like California here!

Guscht along for the ride.

We got split up into two groups leaving Antwerp. I headed out solo, while the other guys left from Ghent, final destination for all of us was the High Chapparel Campground in Luxembourg.

Pit stop in Dinant

Leaving Dinant I got terribly lost on some small roads. Finally hit the highway and took that until I got near Bastogne.

Gas stop in Bastogne. Heavy fighting here during WWII. Currently lots of youths wearing red shoes here now. Ouch

Ed our famous campground host, and Robert from the Chopper Kingz

Late arrival from group #2. A quick dinner of spare ribs and beer and we were off to the Harley Brothers clubhouse for some more... beer.

Andreas, Wolf and Angelo. Thanks for the hospitality guys! We'll see you next time !

Antwerp
With an extra day to see some stuff in Belgium, we headed into the city to go check out the sites.

Beers before some site seeing

Loitering

Beers always lead to tattoos.

Saturday, October 1, 2016

We woke up first thing Tuesday morning and continued working on the bikes. Unfortunately these problems would force us to cancel our trip to Normandie and Omaha Beach.

It took us the majority of the day, but we finally had figured everything out, fitted Brian's bike with a new fuel line, fuel filter, and cleaned out the tank liner that we had found in the bowl. The sun was now low in the European sky, but we decided to head out and visit an old town that was abandoned some years ago because of plans to expand the Antwerp harbor. The harbor never did expand, but 99% of the buildings are still vacant, with a few diehards holding on.
